We have a surveying service and also a removal service that you can take advantage of when you come to us. There are two types of surveys that can be taken to locate as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to access their condition. A management survey is a standard survey, its purpose is to locate as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in the building. There is also a refurbishment and demolition survey and this is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out, this will locate and describe all ACMs in the area of the refurbishment or in the whole building if demolition is going ahead. The survey will be fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to get to.
The duty to manage asbestos in a non-domestic property sets a legal requirement for owners and occupiers of non-domestic buildings to have an asbestos survey and up to date asbestos register in place. These reports must form a basis of a detailed asbestos management plan that outlines how you intend to monitor and manage any ACM’s that may be present within your premises or estate. If you are an employer you may well be the duty holder which means that you have the responsibility for conducting repairs upon your premises, this will mean that any legal responsibility for ensuring your asbestos survey has been conducted will rest with you.
After we have surveyed your building we will look at getting all of the ACMs out of the building with our removal service. It is important that we get all of the asbestos out because asbestos is responsible for 4500 deaths each year, this is because asbestos can cause four different diseases, some of which are fatal. In the UK between the 1950s and the mid-1980s asbestos was used in a variety of products such as thermal insulation, fireproofing, electrical insulation and building materials. Even up until 1999 some asbestos products were still being used. During this period, especially between the 60s and 70s, any commercial or industrial building that was either built or extensively renovated would more than likely contain asbestos in some form or another. Our highly trained team can undertake the removal and disposal of all materials containing asbestos.
