The duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic properties sets a legal requirement for owners and occupiers of non-domestic, building to have an asbestos survey and up-to-date asbestos register in place. These reports must form a basis of a detailed asbestos management plan that outlines how you intend to monitor and manage ACMs that may be present within your premises or estate. If you are an employer or are self-employed and have some or all the responsibility for conducting repairs upon your premises you may well be the “duty holder” in which case any legal responsibility for ensuring your asbestos survey has been conducted will rest with you. You need to complete a survey before getting any asbestos removed from your property, this is a key stage in managing asbestos and will identify the location, type, condition and extent of any asbestos-containing materials.
Management and refurbishment & demolition surveys are the ones that can be completed to find asbestos in your property. Once the surveys are done we can remove the asbestos in your property safely and dispose of it for you as well. It is important to do this because asbestos has been found to cause 4500 deaths each year. This was a study carried out by the HSE and says that this is because asbestos can cause 4 main diseases, Mesothelioma, Lung Cancer, Asbestosis and Diffuse Pleural Thickening. Asbestos has been used for more than 2000 years and in the Uk alone over 1 million commercial, industrial and public buildings contain asbestos material. In the UK between the 1950s and the mid-1980s asbestos was used in a wide variety of products such as thermal insulation, fireproofing, electrical insulation and building materials. Even up until 1999, some asbestos products were still being used.
We hold a full and unconditional health and safety executive licence to work on or with asbestos and we also own and manage our own licenced waste transfer station permitted by the environment agency.
