When you are trying to remove all of the asbestos-containing materials from your property you will need a survey done on the building, there are two types of surveys we can do and these are a management survey or a refurbishment & demolition survey. The management survey is used to locate the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to access their condition. The refurbishment and demolition survey is used for the same thing but in the area that the refurbishment is happening or the whole building if demolition is planned.

Asbestos has been used for more than 2000 years and in the UK alone over 1 million buildings contain asbestos material. In the UK between the 1950s and the 1980s asbestos was used in a wide range of products such as thermal insulation, fireproofing, electrical insulation and building materials. Even up until 1999 some asbestos products were still being used. During the above period, especially between the 60s and 70s, any commercial or industrial building that was either built or extensively renovated would more than likely contain asbestos in some form or another. According to the findings by the HSE asbestos is responsible for 4500 deaths per year.
