We can do asbestos surveying Bristol for you. A key stage in managing asbestos is to identify the location, condition, type and extent of any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs). This can also be achieved by conducting an asbestos survey. The survey should be in accordance with HSE guidance note HSG264 which describes two types of surveys:
The first type is the management survey and this is a standard asbestos survey, it’s main purpose is to locate the presence and extent of any asbestos-containing materials that may be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation. The next survey is the refurbishment and demolition survey and this survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is started. The survey can be used to locate and describe the ACMs in the area where the refurbishment work will take place or in the whole building if demolition is planned. The survey is fully intrusive and involves destructive inspection, as necessary to gain access to all areas including the areas that may be difficult to reach. These surveys may also be required in certain circumstances like when intrusive maintenance and repair is going to be carried or plat removal or dismantling.
There is a regulation for the control of asbestos that was created in 2012 and it states that if you have the duty to manage in non-domestic properties there is a legal requirement for owners and occupiers of the non-domestic building to have an asbestos survey and an up-to-date register. These reports must form the basis of a detailed asbestos management plan that outlines how you intend to monitor and manage any ACM’s that may be present with your building/premises or estate. If you are an employer or you are self-employed you may have the responsibility for conducting repairs and you may well be the “duty holder” in which case any legal responsibility for ensuring your asbestos survey has been conducted will rest with you.
