Asbestos Surveying DorchesterAsbestos surveying Dorchester is what we do and we have two main surveys we can do for you which are in accordance with the HSE guidance note HSG264, these surveys are a management survey and a refurbishment and demolition survey. With the management survey, it’s purpose is to locate as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACMs in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, this includes foreseeable maintenance and installation. The refurbishment and demolition survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out, this survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACMs in the area of the refurbishment work or in the whole building if demolition has been scheduled. A refurbishment and demolition survey may need to be used in other circumstances, for example, more intrusive maintenance and repair work will be carried out for plant removal and dismantling. Having an asbestos survey done is a key stage in identifying the location, type, condition and extent of any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs). This can be achieved by conducting an asbestos survey.

There is a regulation that you will need to be inline with this is called the control of asbestos regulations 2012 and more specifically regulation 4. The duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic properties sets a legal requirement for owners and occupiers of the non-domestic building to have an asbestos survey and up to date asbestos register in place. If you are an employer or you are self-employed and have some or all of the responsibility for conducting repairs on your premises you may well be the duty holder in which case any legal responsibility for ensuring your asbestos survey has been conducted will rest with you.
