In England and Wales, asbestos waste is hazardous waste above 0.1% asbestos content. We never dilute or mix it to sidestep that. It is handled as hazardous from the start.

Asbestos waste is hazardous waste
Once asbestos material is ready for disposal it is hazardous waste in England and Wales above 0.1% asbestos. It must be classified, kept separate, packaged correctly, moved by a registered carrier on a consignment note, and taken to a permitted site.

As the waste producer you hold a duty of care and need to keep your documentation. We handle the compliant route and hand you the consignment notes and records, so you can evidence exactly how your asbestos waste was dealt with.

Asbestos waste should be double-wrapped (typically a red inner bag with an asbestos warning and a clear outer bag) and not broken up. If you are unsure, tell us what you have and we will advise, or handle the packaging as part of a removal job.
