Read the guideOn Saturday 4 July, more than 300 young people turned out in Trowbridge for TeenTrowbridge 2026, a day of free activities organised by the Trowbridge Child and Young People Wellbeing Partnership. ACL was one of the organisations that helped fund the event.
It was the second year the event has run, and attendance was up considerably on 2025.
What the day involved
Everything on the day was free for young people to take part in. Over 150 of them had a go on Wiltshire Outdoor Learning’s climbing wall in Stallard’s Park, alongside a skate jam run by Team Rubicon and a pop-up activity van from Youth for Christ Wiltshire.
Indoors at Trowbridge Old Town Hall there was plenty going on too:
- Art workshops with Mighty Girls
- Musical theatre with BRAVO
- Music workshops with Purple Nose
- Board games with Fun and Games
- A screening of Mamma Mia
The day finished with live music in the Old Court from Cherriebyte and Butane Skies.
Planned by young people, for young people
One of the things that stands out about TeenTrowbridge is that it isn’t designed for young people by a committee of adults guessing what they might like. Students from John of Gaunt School put their ideas forward in a survey at the end of 2025, and several of them went on to play a major part in planning and organising the day itself.
That shows in the feedback. Everyone who responded rated the event as good, and the comments were about exactly the things the organisers had hoped for:
“I thought the event was very fun and I enjoyed the music, and I think there should be more opportunities like this to interact and be social with others.”
“It was very fun and I enjoyed trying to climb to the top of every wall on the rock climbing.”
Why we got involved
Our commitment to working in partnership with Wiltshire Council, and our wider commitment to social value, meant that when the chance came up to help fund something genuinely useful for young people in Trowbridge, it was an easy decision. Events like this only happen when enough local organisations are willing to put something in.
Everyone who made it happen
The event was funded by Trowbridge Area Board, Wiltshire Council, Trowbridge Town Council, Selwood Housing, Trowbridge Lions Club and ACL.
The Partnership also thanked the many volunteers and organisations who ran activities on the day, including Councillor Jo Trigg, Steve Dewar of Youth for Christ, Debs MacLean of Trowbridge Future, Marsha Mars and the staff at Mighty Girls, and Tessa Slack and the team at Trowbridge Old Town Hall, who coordinated the day.
We are already looking forward to seeing what the 2027 event brings.
